Privacy policy

Effective 29 October 2026

About this policy

I'm Lionel Fernandes, and I run Fernandes AI Consulting as a sole trader in Auckland. This policy explains what personal information I collect through fernandesconsulting.co.nz and when you contact me, what I do with it, and the choices you have.

I follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.

This policy takes effect on 29 October 2026.

What I collect

When you fill in the contact form, I collect what you give me:

  • your name and business name
  • your business website, if you add it
  • your email address, and your phone number if you add it
  • what best describes your role, and how many people are in your practice
  • anything you tell me about what takes up your time
  • how you heard about me, if you say

If you email or call me, I keep what you send or tell me.

When the form is sent, my website host (Netlify) also records some technical details with it, such as your IP address and the type of browser you used. This helps filter out spam.

What I don't collect

My website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts, and there are no chat widgets or advertising tools on it. The fonts are stored on my own site, so your visit isn't shared with Google or other font services.

Please don't send me your clients' personal or financial details through the form or by email. I only need to know about your practice.

How I use it

I use your information to:

  • reply to your enquiry
  • book and prepare for our free 30-minute call
  • keep a record of what we talked about, so you don't have to repeat yourself

I won't add you to a marketing list without asking, and I never sell or rent your information to anyone.

Who else sees it, and where it's stored

I use two service providers to run my business:

  • Netlify hosts my website and stores contact form messages.
  • Google Workspace runs my business email.

Both are based in the United States, so your information may be stored on servers outside New Zealand. I've chosen providers that protect information in ways comparable to the Privacy Act, as principle 12 of the Act requires. They hold it on my behalf and don't use it for their own purposes.

I don't share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires me to.

How long I keep it, and how I protect it

If we don't end up working together, I delete your enquiry within 12 months. If you become a client, I keep your details for as long as we work together and as long as tax and business record rules require afterwards.

My accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-step sign-in, and only I have access to them.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, and ask me to correct it or delete it. Just email me. I'll respond within 20 working days, and there's no charge.

If you're not happy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Client work

This policy covers my website and enquiries. When I set up tools for a client, how information is handled is agreed in our written agreement. The tools I build keep your clients' data in your own systems, and I don't hold your clients' personal financial details.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I'll change the date at the top of this page.
